An ideal society that would be free from gun violence would require some base rules and consensus from the citizens and the civilians living in the society. There has to be common knowledge imprinted into the peoples' minds that violence is bad, and they need to learn how important every individual life is. The government need to emphasize those few points, so every thing's scorched into the peoples' minds. They need to understand that guns are okay for protection, but when it's used to cause violence, that should not be prohibited. Measures should be taken by the government to make the people feel safe and secure, because I think most people are getting arms just because they like to feel safe. If you want a world without gun violence, the first step you want to take is to make a dependable force to protect the citizens of the government. After you establish that system, there could be lessons held by the government to teach the people self-defense, in order to have everybody feel that they can protect themselves.

I sort of agree with you Jesse. However, I personally don't think that people buy guns because they feel insecure. Sometimes, they buy guns for fun or revenge.
I think we have think more generally.
hmmmm, I hope everyone will feel the same way as you describe them to be, if not, there's going to be a lot of conflicts.
I agree with giving people lessons on...self-defense?
Very ideal but sounds brainwashing lol...and I agree about the dependable force. However you cant make everyone happy.
Agree with your idea, but you know that it's impractical that everyone will reach the consensus.
The irony here is that the government should be looking after it's citizens but isn't it the government that is providing the means to allow arms trade? Illegal or legal? Think of the US, who spend billions of dollars on arms expenditure and yet if I am NOT mistaken the US has the most incidents of school shootings in the world.
